Muscle therapy

Help your muscles relax & recover

Whether you do the odd workout in your living room or are a full-time fitness fanatic, it is inevitable that you will feel some sort of muscle pain in your lifetime. Not to mention that you will also probably feel muscle pain in places you didn’t think you even had muscles. You will find that there are many different muscle therapies you can try to relieve muscle pain.

A form of muscle therapy that is popular amongst athletes and fitness influencers in the industry, is taping. Now, taping is not just limited to muscle recovery and can also be used for prevention. It is better known as Kinesiology tape and can be applied to many different parts of the body.

How can tape relieve muscle pain?

You may be wondering how exactly this works, as applying sellotape will definitely not have the same effect. This specific tape is specially designed to help with fitness related injuries and help speed up the recovery time so that you can get back to doing what you love.

When applied to the skin, the Kinesiology tape lifts up the skin of the affected area in order to make it easier for the body to boost circulation of your lymphatic flow. This is a clear liquid known as the lymphatic system, which carries white blood cells around your body to fight off infection and clear any waste/dead cells, ultimately reducing the recovery time of your painful muscles. Applying the tape directly to the affected area will help decrease the inflammation, increase blood flow to help reduce swelling, provide pain relief and as a result, decrease healing time.

How do I apply the tape?

You need to ensure you apply the Kinesiology tape directly to skin which is not cut, sore or broken in any way. Your skin will need to be free from creams and be dry and clean in order for the tape to be effective.

If your skin becomes irritated, or you have an allergic reaction to the tape, then it is very important to remove it straight away - muscle pain and irritable skin is not a good combination.

The basics to applying the tape is adding one strip onto the affected area, this will have no tension and is known as the anchor end. The second piece of tape applied should be on the muscle, or joint, to provide therapeutic tension. Lastly, apply a second piece of anchor tape which will be without tension.

We advise you to see a trained health professional to best advise you on where specifically to apply the tape. This long-lasting tape should always be applied in shapes of I, Y or X, in order to reduce your recovery time.

Kinesiology tape can provide your post workout physic with many benefits.

This is why we integrate all of our ReForm products  with tape to provide the benefits of tapping, without having to spend the money on the tapes alone and it also means you won’t needing to seek help from a professional  chiropractor/specialist who would apply them for you.
