This week’s edition is very exciting, as there is so many activities to do in all of the lovely African and Middle Eastern countries, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top three picks. If you have any further ideas and tips on where to go and what to do, do not hesitate to leave us a comment. If you haven’t yet, check out the previous pieces of Adrenaline Junkies in Europe, North America, Oceania, and Asia. This edition is closely linked with diving, so we hope you enjoy the read.
Diving with Great White Sharks – South Africa
The Great Whites are one of the most feared water creatures in the world, and so why not try diving with them if you want to test your fears? After 2.5-hour drive from Cape Town you will find yourself in Gansbaai, which is referred to as the great white shark capital of the world. There are multiple companies offering day tours out to the sea to see the sharks in their natural environment while you dive underwater in a protective cage to come eye to eye with those magnificent creatures. If this doesn’t test your fear of shark, what else would? It is a good idea to book in advance to ensure your spots, and possibly look out for special offers as well. The tour guides will provide you with training and all the information on the great whites you could imagine.
Victoria Falls bungee jump – Zambia & Zimbabwe
Bungee jumping at Victoria Falls should be on everyone’s bucket list. Beautiful scenery of the Victoria Falls Bridge will nearly make you forget what you’re about to do. Leaping out on your own can be terrifying for a lot of people, but the experience is worth the risk and adrenaline rush, and you can always try a tandem jump with a buddy. You will free fall 111 meters above the Zambezi river, and most likely scream your lungs out. It is a one in a lifetime experience. Booking in advance and checking with tour companies is encouraged to make sure there is availability for your desired date. Nothing will prepare you for what you are going to feel when you’re standing at the edge of the bridge and are about to jump, but you will enjoy it. Will Smith enjoyed this adrenaline thrill as well, and loved it!
Skydiving – The Palm Dubai, UAE
Dubai had become a popular tourist destination all around the year, and so there’s no wonder the local companies offer many experiences and tours to enjoy your stay. One of those is tandem skydiving above The Palm island. You free fall from 13,000 feet (4,000 m) at a speed of over 120 mph, while being attached to a professional instructor who will ensure your safety. If you’re scared of heights, this experience will test your limits. One good thing about it is that you are strapped to a professional instructor and they will talk with you to ensure you are feeling well and are ready for the jump. You’re not alone in this, and so why not give it a go?
Thank you for checking out the fifth edition of Adrenaline Junkies, we’ll be looking forward to our next and also last piece on South America. Things you buy might not last, experiences you invest in will stay in your memory forever.
